Hello from Ontario Canada
« on: August 25, 2014, 01:38:08 PM »
Just want to say hi and introduce myself. While I have programmed quite a bit in DOS using Basic, dBase III, and Clipper, I am totally new to, and know absolutely nothing about windows programming. I purchased IWBasic and IWB+ and will soon start experimenting with these in an effort to learn about windows programming so you can expect a lot of questions.

At a personal level, I am retired and a couple of my hobbies are Amateur Radio (VE3JOC) and antenna design and building. I have a Private Pilot license and spent 3 years skydiving although I don't do either any more. Getting too old! :)  I also enjoy a few other things such as paleontology.

So, that's a little bit about myself and I hope that I can meet a few of you other forum members and tap into your warehouse of knowledge regarding windows programming with IWBasic and IWB+

Cheers.

Hi Columbo,

Sky-diving when you're retired ..  :o .. I don't think I'll be trying that .. ;D

Welcome to Coding Monkeys.   :)

I see your site is aimed just at the various flavours of Basic.
That suits me fine - best language in the World ;D

I'll be popping in ..

Sorry I'm late in responding to this post Graham.  Been a bit busy in the past couple of weeks.  :)

Thanks for the welcome. I don't know how old you are but skydiving really can be fun as long as you follow ALL of the safety rules.  There are not that many accidents and when there is an accident it is usually during a contest where some people, unfortunately, take  greater risks.  Even then, most injuries are broken legs or arms rather than fatalities.

Cheers

I'm hoping to issue a new maintenance release to the IWBasic 3.x IDE in the next few weeks and Larry Sikes has released an update to the Linux version of IWBasic and is currently working on the 64bit version of IWBasic.  Progress should speed up since he has retired and has apparently resolved his m
